Our Facilities

Straight gallop

Our carpet gallop is an excellent addition to the purpose-built facilities here at The Gallops. The carpet remains perfect to use, whether it’s sub-zero or rising 30 degrees, and the design allows the horses to canter back down after working up the straight.

round gallop

The round gallop is a nice alternative to the straight, keeping the horses routines varied as well as being great to use for schooling over barrels and brush hurdles.

Starting stalls

Our 3 bay starting stalls are perfect for teaching the young horses the trade as well as putting in some practice for our well-seasoned flat runners.

Schooling fences & hurdles

We have a variety of fences, ideal for teaching the younger horses as well as introducing flat horses to a new career over jumps. Our fences include log piles, hurdles and chase fences, including an open ditch.

turnout paddocks

We have plenty of turn out, which is a great opportunity for freshening horses up or letting them stretch their legs after a run. It is also allows us to give horses short breaks from full training.

treadmill

The treadmill is a brilliant addition to the yard, allowing a controlled environment for both steady and faster work. The treadmill can also vary in incline, which is great for strengthening horses up before starting them on the gallops.

Schooling ring

The schooling ring can be used for loose schooling as well as for the initial steps in teaching horses to jump. We have found it really helpful, especially for the younger horses or horses who need a bit of change in their routine.
